A local web design and apps company, Wiregrass Apps, was created to cater to the needs of a business world increasingly reliant upon mobile technology.
The Dothan Eagle reports that Rob Beene, the owner and creator of Wiregrass Apps, created his company in order to tap into the large need for mobile-friendly technology. His company, situated in Dothan, Alabama, focuses on apps but also does work on web design, with a specific focus on making sites accessible on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.
“My job is to figure out how to make clients money with apps and websites, how to take the core customers of those clients and get information to them,” he said.
Because Wiregrass Apps is a local company, it can provide more individualized and specialized services to local businesses. Local web designer Tim Tolleson says that web design for mobile use is especially important, considering that accessing the web on a mobile device is becoming more common.
“Your website is there 24/7 and carries your message about who you are and what you do,” Tolleson said.
Indeed, according to Search Engine Land, roughly 85% of consumers find local businesses and services on the Internet. More than 70% of consumers trust online reviews just as much as personal recommendations.
Another study has indicated that more than 93% of all Internet sessions start on a search engine.
Tolleson said that Wiregrass and other web design companies should focus on three things: identifying the target audience, designing the website with the target audience’s tastes in mind, and making sure that the website is compatible with search engines as to garner favorable rankings. The latter point has become increasingly important with the advent of search engine optimization (SEO), which is the process of designing web content to gain better rankings.
Beene is aware of the latest trends in web design and acts accordingly. He pointed out that Google has just released new guidelines to business websites, requiring them to make themselves more accessible to mobile devices in order to obtain better rankings. He said that making websites easier to see on a smaller screen and ensuring that videos can play on mobile devices are essential, to gain more Internet traffic.
