WashClub is an on-demand laundry, dry cleaning, and tailoring mobile app, and this August the company expanded into the Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, Alabama regions. Customers with the app can use their mobile devices to schedule laundry, pick-up, and delivery services. The company started in Brooklyn with service to the entire New York City and Long Island area, but now launders clothes in Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, and now, Birmingham.
In addition to the mobile app, the company also offers WashClub Trak, a white label service for local businesses. The company says the software is “a cloud based eCommerce solution that offers a customer order and tracking system, IOS and Android apps, payment gateway, on-demand delivery tracking, customer communication messaging, marketing, analytics and many more add-ons.” On-demand apps like Uber and WashClub are increasingly relying on such cloud systems to manage national expansions like this one, with 59% of cloud users reporting that the technology improved integration between their development and operations divisions.
The company is pitching its laundry services to parents, urban professionals, and college students. Even so, a recent press release from the company sounded geared more towards the needs of residents in New York City rather than those in Birmingham. According to the company’s press release, the service will deliver finished laundry to your home, or just leave it with your “doorman.” Though in all likelihood, not many local college students or working parents have doormen to take their deliveries.
“We’re very excited to be bringing our innovative technology to operators and consumers in areas across the country like Alabama,” said company founder Rick Rome. “In the immediate future, we’ll continue to see a dramatic change in consumption patterns for laundry and dry cleaning not only in NYC but nationwide, with customers increasingly reliant on immediate solutions. Doing laundry and dry cleaning is a time consuming, never ending problem that we solve.”
